Underground Trainer

About the role

Westgold Resources is seeking an Underground Trainer to join its Big Bell Operation, a flagship underground gold mine in the Murchison region of Western Australia. Reporting to the Superintendent for Health & Safety, you will deliver training, assessments and competency development for the underground workforce, supporting safe and productive mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver underground inductions, training programs and competency assessments.
• Conduct Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments.
• Coach and mentor operators to develop skills, knowledge and safe work practices.
• Maintain accurate training records and compliance documentation.
• Identify skills gaps and contribute to workforce development initiatives.
• Assist in the development and review of training materials and procedures.
• Promote a positive safety culture through ongoing engagement with site teams.

Required profile

• Extensive underground mining experience, preferably in gold mining.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent).
• Current WA Class C Driver’s Licence and recent National Police Clearance.
• Strong understanding of WA mining operations, safety regulations and underground methods.
• Excellent communication, coaching and mentoring abilities.
