Underground Safety Trainer

About the role

Develop is seeking an Underground Safety Trainer for its Woodlawn Copper‑Zinc Mine in Tarago, NSW. Reporting to the Safety and Training Superintendent, you will ensure the underground workforce is competent and safe through training, assessments and ongoing support.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver induction, refresher and task‑specific training programmes for underground personnel.
• Conduct competency assessments for employees and contractors on underground roles and equipment.
• Identify training gaps, develop corrective plans and maintain accurate training records.
• Support the Safety Management System, conduct inspections, audits and assist in incident investigations.
• Communicate safety updates, procedural changes and key information across the workforce.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116) and minimum 2 years safety/training experience in a metalliferous mining operation.
• Current competencies in underground operational roles and mobile equipment operation.
• Current C Class driver’s licence and good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team in a physically demanding environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with INX systems (InTuition, InControl).
• Knowledge of ICAM investigations and current mine health & safety legislation.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
