Undergraduate Accountant

About the role

Spark Accountants, a Brisbane-based firm specialising in tax compliance and advisory for small business owners and individuals, is looking for an undergraduate accountant. The role sits within a supportive, friendly small team led by a director with Big 4 experience, and offers a path toward CA status.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare company, individual, partnership, trust and SMSF tax returns
• Handle monthly, quarterly and annual BAS/IAS returns
• Prepare financial statements
• Manage management accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and payroll
• Liaise with the ATO as required by clients and provide taxation advice in client communications
• Deal directly with clients on business and tax matters and carry out other general administrative tasks

Required profile

• Completed or currently completing a bachelor's degree within six months, with a GPA above 5.0
• Willingness to develop skills and undertake further study to progress to CA status
• Friendly personality, excellent communication skills and a good command of written and spoken English
• Attention to detail, self-initiative and motivation

Required skills

• Tech-savvy and familiar with Microsoft Excel
• Experience with Xero is not essential but is advantageous
