UG Blasting Equipment Technician (FIFO)

About the role

Orica is looking for a Technician - UG Blasting Equipment (HcD Technician) to join its Mining Services team. This is a FIFO opportunity from any city of Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Kalgoorlie or Sydney, servicing underground mining customers across Australia. You will support underground blasting machinery and customer-operated systems through maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment commissioning and technical support in Western Australia and South Australia. Training and support are provided, whether you are experienced or not.

Key responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair underground blasting equipment, including Hypercharge Drive Units (HcD)
• Find and fix mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and system faults
• Provide technical support and advice to customers on-site and by phone
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and help customers minimise downtime
• Carry out equipment inspections, routine servicing and maintenance audits
• Assist with installing, testing and commissioning new equipment
• Keep accurate service records and work safely in line with site, customer and Orica requirements

Required profile

• Strong hands-on experience maintaining mobile or fixed plant equipment, and/or trade qualification as a light vehicle auto electrician or mechanic
• Ability to diagnose issues and solve problems independently
• Confidence working on-site and managing your own workload
• Clear communication skills when supporting customers or teams
• Safety-first mindset and understanding of safe work practices
