Transport Planner – Defence Logistics

About the role

Join Toll Group’s Defence Theatre Logistics team as a Transport Planner, supporting Australia’s Defence capability from Robertson Barracks in the Northern Territory. You will act as a critical bridge between warehouse, customer service and operational teams, driving efficiency across multiple Defence sites.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and schedule multimodal transport runs to maximise fleet utilisation.
• Use ERP/WMS and Transport Management Systems (TMS) to manage bookings, run sheets and tracking.
• Allocate deliveries and collections across company drivers and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with transport regulations, fatigue management and company policies.
• Coordinate with warehouse teams to optimise loading, consolidation and despatch activities.
• Communicate delivery schedules and service updates to customers.
• Maintain accurate transport records and documentation.
• Provide input to performance reports and carrier utilisation analysis.
• Contribute to route optimisation, cost reduction and service improvement initiatives.
• Escalate service failures or customer‑impacting issues to the Regional Manager.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years’ experience in warehouse, distribution or logistics operations.
• Experience with supply chain, complex operations or Defence contracts is preferred.
• Valid MR class Truck Licence.
• Ability to work onsite at Robertson Barracks and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP/WMS platforms.
• Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS).
• Valid MR class Truck Licence.
