Trainer and Assessor – Diploma of Community Services

About the role

The Trainer and Assessor for the Diploma of Community Services will join Southern Cross Education Institute Higher Education on a part‑time, on‑site basis in North Melbourne. You will be responsible for delivering engaging, competency‑based training that equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills required in the community services sector.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and evaluate training sessions aligned with the Diploma of Community Services curriculum.
• Develop, update and customise learning materials, case studies and resources.
• Facilitate classroom‑based and practical learning activities, supporting diverse learners.
• Assess student work against competency standards, record outcomes and maintain accurate assessment records.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality assurance requirements.
• Collaborate with academic colleagues on continuous improvement initiatives and stay current with sector trends.

Required profile

• Diploma or higher qualification in Community Services or a related discipline.
• Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent).
• Relevant industry experience in community services.
• Strong knowledge of community services legislation, ethical frameworks and best practice.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and classroom facilitation abilities.
• Attention to detail and experience with record‑keeping and compliance processes.
• Commitment to student‑centred teaching and ongoing professional development.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other digital learning tools.
• Competence in Microsoft Office suite and basic computer applications.
