Trainee Underwriter – Mobile Plant & Liability

About the role

Underwriting Agencies of Australia (UAA), part of the UAA Group, specialises in insurance for industrial and commercial plant and equipment and is looking for a Trainee Underwriter in its Adelaide office. Reporting to the Regional Manager, this entry-level role sits within a team of Underwriters, Business Development Managers and an Operations Manager, and covers the Mobile Plant and Liability portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate risk for new business, renewals and endorsements promptly and accurately.
• Build strong relationships with intermediaries and respond to customer inquiries professionally.
• Manage the Mobile Plant and Liability portfolio with attention to detail.

Required profile

• Strong focus on integrity and on building and maintaining relationships with intermediaries.
• Superior attention to detail and strong time management skills.
• Thrive in a close-knit, collaborative team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Well-developed negotiation skills, useful for processing renewals and new business.
• Experience in a similar role is beneficial, especially in insuring mobile plant and equipment.
• Ability to handle detailed data and reports, and to manage several tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience managing customer interactions and resolving issues.
• Eligible to work in Australia.

Required skills

• High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Grasp of insurance processes and systems.
