Trade Assistant

About the role

We are looking for motivated Trade Assistants to join our mining team on both rostered and ad‑hoc assignments in Mackay. You will work alongside experienced tradespeople, gaining hands‑on experience with heavy mining equipment and the opportunity to progress into a trade‑based apprenticeship.

Key responsibilities

• Assist tradespeople with operation and maintenance of heavy mining equipment.
• Support the use of diggers and drills on site.
• Participate in both rostered and ad‑hoc shifts, including DIDO arrangements.
• Maintain strict safety standards and comply with site requirements.
• Liaise with management and clients to ensure smooth workflow.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a mining environment.
• Coal Board Medical clearance.
• Experience working with diggers and drills.
• Standard 11 Statement of Attainment.
• Desirable: HR Drivers Licence, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, Gas Test Atmospheres, EWP certification.
• Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self‑motivated, results‑driven with an uncompromising attitude to safety.
