Threat Detection Analyst (Japanese & English Speaking)

About the role

Fastly's Customer Security Operations Center (CSOC) supports its security products and services, and the Threat Detection Analyst role delivers security services focused on integrating and supporting agent software installed on customer systems. The team works with security, operations and customer organisations to respond to Internet-scale threats. The role is remote, based in Australia, and requires availability during core business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse customer activity, with emphasis on security such as account takeover, bot attacks and WAF administration, especially around the application layer and web technologies
• Respond to escalated security cases from customers and automated systems
• Create and manage security content for customer environments and write reports on security services
• Carry out continuous improvement and research to improve customer security products and operations
• Contribute to processes and policies as the organisation grows

Required profile

• Prior experience in a SOC environment
• Experience in an IT or security technical support, operations or research role
• Fluent spoken and written English
• Ability to troubleshoot software products and work with limited supervision while mentoring colleagues

Required skills

• SaaS, cloud or hybrid cloud deployments
• Apache, NGINX, IIS or other web servers and application server technologies
• Scripting in Python, Java, Go, Rust, PHP, Unix/Linux shell, C# or similar
• Application security knowledge and Unix/Linux or Windows system administration

The shift is 0000-0800 UTC (9am-6pm AEST), and the position is remote with the possibility of becoming hybrid as Fastly expands in the region. Travel to the US and internationally is required as needed.
