Textiles and Design Teacher (Years 7-12)

About the role

Canberra Grammar School is seeking a full-time, ongoing Textiles and Design Teacher to teach across Years 7-12, starting in 2027. The teacher connects creative thinking with practical skills, helping students move from their first sketch to a finished product and exploring materials, technologies and making.

Key responsibilities

• Create hands-on learning experiences that encourage experimentation, build technical confidence and challenge students to solve problems through design.
• Contribute to curriculum planning, classroom practice and assessment, and share ideas to create inclusive learning experiences.
• Contribute to pastoral care, co-curricular opportunities and the wider life of the school, supporting students' wellbeing and personal growth.

Required profile

• A relevant tertiary degree and teaching qualification.
• Subject specialism sufficient to teach to senior level, with success teaching across the secondary years.
• Ability to teach Design and Technology, including Textiles and Fashion Design, Product Design and Technologies and Fibre Production Technologies.
• Demonstrated capacity to teach across a broad age and ability range, with an inclusive understanding of learning needs.
• Demonstrated use of assessment, feedback and data to advance student learning.
• Genuine commitment to pastoral care, co-curricular engagement and safeguarding, and excellent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Knowledge and understanding of coding with teaching experience is highly desirable.
• Valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card, current National Police Check and full working rights in Australia.
