Temporary Forklift Operator - Major Sporting Event

About the role

HOBAN Recruitment is recruiting experienced and reliable Forklift Operators for a major sporting event in Melbourne CBD, running from November 2026 to March 2027. You will support the movement of equipment, materials and event infrastructure across the build, site readiness, bump-in, live operations and bump-out phases, working with onsite coordinators, contractors, labourers and other event personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a forklift safely and efficiently across the event site
• Load, unload and relocate equipment and materials, and move pallets and event infrastructure
• Support event bump-in, site setup, delivery and positioning of materials, and bump-out and pack-down
• Assist contractors, labourers and onsite teams with material movements and site preparation
• Carry out pre-start and safety checks, follow site traffic management and safety procedures, and report equipment, safety or operational issues to supervisors
• Follow instructions from onsite coordinators and project management

Required profile

• Current and valid forklift licence (mandatory)
• Demonstrated experience operating a forklift in a warehouse, construction, logistics, events or similar environment
• Experience operating safely around pedestrians and other site personnel, and good awareness of workplace health and safety requirements
• Reliable, punctual, able to follow instructions and work well in a large team
• Physical fitness and flexibility to work across different stages of the event; previous major event or large-site experience is highly desirable
• Valid White Card (Construction Induction Training) is mandatory
• Candidates must provide their own PPE, including steel-cap safety boots and a hi-vis vest
