Technical Trainer - Electrical Training

About the role

Ausgrid, the largest electricity distributor on Australia's east coast, is looking for a Technical Trainer to join its Technical Training team. The role is based in Wallsend, is permanent and pays $127k base plus 16.5% superannuation, with onsite parking and a fortnightly rostered day off.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver statutory training such as ESR, CPR, LV Release and Rescue, and Pole Top/EWP.
• Facilitate enterprise courses covering topics such as Shorts Training, Applying Earths, Height Safety, Substation Entry, Live Work Training and Fleet and Plant training.
• Assess training participants impartially and coach, mentor and supervise learners.

Required profile

• Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent), or willingness to complete the required units.
• Certificate III or equivalent in the ESI industry as Cable Jointer or Substation Technician, or significant experience as a plant operator on a distribution network.
• Background in the electrical trade is essential; ideally a qualified Cable Jointer or Substation Technician/Electrician.
• NSW Construction Induction Card.
• Full Australian work rights.

Required skills

• Understanding of federal, state government and VET RTO/training requirements, including the AQF structure and ASQA RTO Standards 2015.
• Knowledge of regulatory training and assessment needs of the business and Accredited Service Providers.
• Intermediate computer literacy in Microsoft Office and systems.
• Presentation and facilitation skills for training, assessment and competency verification, and coaching and mentoring.
