Technical Support & Field Service Engineer

About the role

ABB is seeking a Technical Support & Field Service Engineer to provide on‑site technical assistance for renewable energy installations across solar, wind and battery storage projects. You will work directly with customers and internal teams to ensure equipment performance and drive customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Execute field service work and technical support for renewable energy installations in line with ABB standards, quality and safety guidelines.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process failures, implement corrective actions and document all service activities.
• Maintain customer relationships by delivering superior service experiences and identifying opportunities to improve operations.
• Collaborate with account teams to uncover new service business opportunities and prepare comprehensive reports.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or related technical field.
• Current NSW or QLD Electrical Licence or A‑Grade Electrician Licence.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in field service engineering, technical support or similar roles.
• Valid driver’s licence and work rights for Australia.

Required skills

• Technical troubleshooting and diagnostic tools for power electronics, inverters and control systems.
• Knowledge of SCADA systems, PLC programming and diagnostic software platforms.
• Experience with renewable energy technologies (solar, wind, BESS).
