Technical Services Engineer - Blast Design & EBS

About the role

Orica is hiring a Technical Services Engineer for its Pilbara business, with a preferred base in Perth and regular travel to Pilbara operations. This is a highly technical, customer-facing role focused on advanced drill and blast support, including blast design and Electronic Blasting Systems (EBS), helping improve blast outcomes across mine sites.

Key responsibilities

• Support the delivery of technical blasting projects that add value to customer operations
• Assist with blast design and on-site technical support, including EBS systems
• Work with customers and internal teams to coordinate and execute projects
• Build collaborative relationships with site stakeholders
• Provide guidance on blasting practices and product application
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across blasting operations
• Develop technical capability through training and practical experience

Required profile

• Experience in shotfiring, drill and blast, or mining operations, or a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Mining Engineering)
• Understanding of blasting principles or mining processes (open cut experience beneficial but not essential)
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
• Willingness to learn and adapt, and ability to work independently and collaboratively in dynamic site environments
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
• Awareness of environmental considerations such as vibration, dust and noise (advantageous but not required)
