Technical Lead – Financial Crime (Hybrid, Sydney)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to join a high‑performing financial crime team within a leading Australian bank. The role is hybrid, requiring two days per week in the Sydney office, and focuses on designing and delivering large‑scale data and integration solutions for critical AML/CTF initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into clear, scalable technical designs.
• Contribute to solution architecture and end‑to‑end delivery planning.
• Produce and review high‑level IT, data, and solution design documentation.
• Investigate and resolve complex production issues through detailed data analysis.
• Provide L3 application support for vendor platforms such as Quantexa, Fenergo, and NetReveal.
• Validate technical changes to ensure system stability, sustainability, and cost optimisation.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and vendors to drive successful delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience in solution design and data integration within large‑scale enterprise environments.
• Advanced SQL and data analysis capabilities.
• Strong working knowledge of the Hadoop ecosystem and Spark.
• Experience delivering across multiple platforms and delivery methodologies.
• Background in banking or financial services, preferably with exposure to financial crime platforms.
• Knowledge of AML, CTF, and sanctions frameworks.
