About the role

This Technical Lead, Data Engineering (Azure) role sits within the Information Technology - Data Engineering team. You will design scalable, efficient and reliable data pipelines and systems, work with the architecture function on technology choices, and oversee data quality.

Key responsibilities

• Design scalable, efficient and reliable data pipelines and systems.
• Work with the architecture function on technology, tool and architecture choices aligned to the Architecture Strategy.
• Write code, develop data workflows and support the Reporting and Analytics Community of Practice.
• Ensure pipelines perform optimally, identify bottlenecks and implement improvements.
• Collaborate with data and cyber security to meet data privacy, security and compliance.
• Coordinate and lead troubleshooting of data pipelines, infrastructure and incidents with third parties, finding root causes and implementing solutions.
• Keep documentation up to date to support knowledge sharing and manage key person risk.
• Stay current with emerging data engineering trends and adopt new tools and practices.
• Oversee data quality so data is accurate, consistent and meets consumer needs.
