Technical Business Analyst

About the role

A boutique technology consultancy delivering projects across data, analytics, business intelligence and data governance is looking for a Technical Business Analyst. The role bridges business and technology, working across several client projects to understand requirements, engage stakeholders and turn complex technical concepts into practical solutions. It is described as a genuinely hybrid BA role, and Melbourne is preferred while Sydney is considered.

Key responsibilities

• Work across multiple concurrent client projects covering data, analytics, BI and data governance.
• Engage directly with business stakeholders to understand their requirements, challenges and desired outcomes.
• Translate business needs into clear functional and technical requirements for delivery teams.
• Collaborate with data engineers, developers and technical consultants so solutions match business objectives.
• Facilitate workshops, requirements-gathering sessions and stakeholder discussions.
• Support data governance initiatives, including data quality, reporting and information management.
• Challenge requirements where necessary, manage expectations and handle competing stakeholder priorities.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Technical Business Analyst, ideally in a technology consultancy or client-facing environment.
• Open to mid-level Business Analysts with the right mix of technical capability, curiosity and strong interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable working across business and technical teams and building trust with clients.
• Proactive, adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of data and analytics environments; exposure to Power BI, data platforms, reporting or data governance is highly regarded.
• Requirements gathering, analytical thinking and problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience managing competing priorities across multiple projects or workstreams.
