Senior Software Engineer, AI Tooling & Information Security

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its information security team. You will lead the development of AI tools and applications that improve how Airwallex protects its systems, data and employees, and build the infrastructure behind internal tooling. The role is hybrid: three days a week in the Sydney or Melbourne office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of AI tools and applications from inception through implementation.
• Build, monitor and maintain infrastructure for internal tooling, including Kubernetes clusters, serverless workloads, ETL pipelines and terabyte-scale log pipelines.
• Support incident response by developing tools for threat hunting, remediation and security scanning.
• Partner with engineers and product teams to automate risk reduction, such as patching automation, gateways and other services.
• Mentor Software Engineers and help raise the engineering bar across the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security or a related field.
• At least five years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Experience with production codebases and autonomous delivery of high-quality projects on time.
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and the ability to investigate deeply and learn continuously.
• Preferred: experience in a high-growth technology company, hands-on experience using AI to build applications, and experience maintaining Linux systems.

Required skills

• Scripting language such as Python, and a systems programming language such as Go or C/C++.
• Modern cloud infrastructure, including data pipelines, serverless workloads and Kubernetes.
