Teams Voice Architect / Senior Engineer

About the role

The Teams Voice Architect / Senior Engineer designs, builds, configures and implements the Unified Communications solution in the client environment. The role leads technical work on Microsoft Teams Phone, PSTN connectivity, Direct Routing, Operator Connect, SBC integration, voice routing, numbering and telephony services, working with client stakeholders, network and identity teams and solution architects. It delivers a secure, scalable and resilient voice solution supporting local and international calling and a future move to client-managed SBC infrastructure. Australian citizenship is required; security clearance is highly regarded.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of Microsoft Teams Phone services.
• Design PSTN connectivity using Operator Connect, Direct Routing and cloud-based SBC services.
• Define voice routing, numbering plans, dial plans and telephony policies.
• Design and configure Teams voice, audio conferencing and calling capabilities.
• Support integration with client telephony providers and external voice services.
• Develop architecture for future client-managed SBC adoption and configure voice security, resilience and service continuity.
• Lead testing, validation, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
• Produce solution documentation, operational procedures and support handover materials.
• Support deployment planning, pilots and production rollout, and provide technical leadership and governance.

Required profile

• Australian citizen; security clearance highly regarded.
• Preferred: experience designing and implementing Teams Phone in large enterprises, and migration from traditional PBX to Teams.
• Preferred: government or highly regulated environments, global deployments and complex numbering and routing programs.
