Team Member Grading - Level 5

About the role

Gympie Regional Council is recruiting a Team Member Grading (Level 5) for its Maintenance Team. The role focuses on grading operations, with opportunities to contribute to road maintenance, construction and civil works projects across the region. It suits someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating plant and equipment and being part of a supportive, multi-skilled team.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain graders and other plant, vehicles, equipment and tools safely, competently and efficiently.
• Carry out road grading, maintenance, construction and associated civil works in line with standards, specifications and Council work programs.
• Perform general labouring duties, including physically demanding tasks, to support infrastructure maintenance and construction.
• Work with team members and other Council crews to meet operational targets and deliver quality outcomes.
• Maintain workplace health and safety by following procedures, identifying and reporting hazards.
• Support technology and mobile workforce initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Respond professionally to requests and enquiries, and carry out other duties as required.

Required profile

• Reliable, practical and adaptable operator who takes pride in safe, well-presented infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to operate plant, vehicles, equipment and tools; physical fitness for manual labour including heavy lifting and outdoor work.
• Able to work independently with limited supervision and with good relationships with colleagues and the public.
• Proactive about safety, quality and continuous improvement, and flexible across maintenance activities.
• Current Queensland HR class driver licence or higher, and a current Construction Industry White Card.

• Chainsaw and pole saw competency
• Desirable: Certificate III in Civil Construction, Plant Operations or related discipline; wheel loader, skid steer and excavator competencies; road construction and maintenance experience.
