Water and Sewerage Team Member Level 6

About the role

Gympie Regional Council is looking for a motivated, safety-focused Team Member Water and Sewerage Level 6 to join its Water and Sewerage Network team. Reporting to the Team Leader Water and Sewerage Network, you will carry out maintenance on the water supply and sewerage networks, keeping services safe, reliable and compliant with regulatory requirements. Working under limited supervision, you will operate plant, vehicles, equipment and tools to deliver maintenance programs.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out water supply and sewerage network maintenance safely, efficiently and to a high standard
• Operate excavators, plant, vehicles, equipment and tools in line with Council policies and procedures
• Support maintenance of drinking water infrastructure, focusing on water quality, hygiene, public health and compliance
• Maintain sewerage infrastructure to protect the environment and comply with regulations
• Collect and record operational data such as water flow rates and pressure levels
• Carry out water meter maintenance and replacement as required
• Contribute to planned maintenance and operational works programs and identify ways to improve work practices
• Communicate with team members, management and the public, and take part in the on-call roster

Required profile

• More than three years' experience in a similar role within the water industry
• Demonstrated competency operating excavators with a bucket capacity greater than 0.5 cubic metres
• Previous sewer jetter and CCTV inspection experience
• Experience maintaining and replacing water meters
• Physical fitness and dexterity for regular manual labouring
• Ability to work under limited supervision and with the public

Required skills

• Current Queensland MR class driver's licence
• Excavator competency, Traffic Management Implementation, Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights
• General Construction Induction Card (White Card/Blue Card)
• Desirable: Certificate III in Water Industry Operations, GIS and work order systems experience, asbestos removal competency
