Team Leader Pharmacist – Medical and Surgical

About the role

The Clinical Team Leader Pharmacist provides operational leadership, coordination and clinical oversight for pharmacy services at Northern Beaches Hospital. This senior role manages a team of rotational pharmacists to ensure safe, effective, and timely delivery of clinical pharmacy services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operations of designated clinical pharmacy services, including workload management and service prioritisation.
• Provide clinical supervision, performance development and competency‑based assessment for pharmacists, interns and students.
• Coordinate workforce scheduling and manage staffing for weekend, public holiday, after‑hours and on‑call rosters.
• Act as the first point of contact for clinical, operational and staffing issues within the medical and surgical specialties.

Required profile

• Current registration as a pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (AHPRA) with no conditions or eligibility for immediate registration.
• At least three years post‑registration experience in a hospital pharmacy, preferably in an acute referral or teaching hospital.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and develop staff, fostering a collaborative team culture.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills for liaising with health professionals, consumers and external providers.

Required skills

• High‑level clinical knowledge and judgement across a broad range of medical and surgical specialties.
• Proficiency in clinical supervision, competency assessment and teaching of pharmacy personnel.
