Team Leader - Bookkeeping and Accounting

About the role

Dexterous is looking for an experienced Team Leader (Bookkeeping and Accounting) to lead a team of junior, intermediate and senior Accountants and Bookkeepers. The role delivers high-quality, accurate accounting support to clients through strong customer service, leadership and close collaboration with clients, Client Managers and CFOs.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee financial statements, including profit and loss, and ensure client compliance with superannuation, taxation and regulatory requirements.
• Manage reconciliations such as workers' compensation, balance sheet, cash flow, payroll tax, GST, FBT and end-of-month journals.
• Act as primary client contact, build client relationships, oversee client work, respond to queries promptly and review and approve invoicing.
• Lead, coach and develop direct reports, monitor team utilisation and resource allocation, and liaise with the CFO Advisory team and Client Managers.
• Drive process improvement, quality assurance and continuous improvement, including keeping process documentation current and systems up to date.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience; CA or CPA qualification preferred.
• Previous management or leadership experience and a proven track record adopting new technologies.
• Experience in accounting practices, bookkeeping, tax and BAS/GST/FBT; experience managing multiple clients preferred.
• Experience using Xero.
