Team Leader - Agri Underwriting

About the role

IAG's Agri Underwriting Centre is looking for a Team Leader to lead a well-established team of underwriters who help protect rural and regional communities in Australia. This is a full-time permanent position based in Ballarat or Melbourne, on a hybrid basis with at least two days per week in the office. The role focuses on coaching, capability building and positive change within a technically capable team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of underwriters so that people feel supported, accountable and empowered.
• Manage team performance, workflow and resource allocation to deliver quality underwriting outcomes.
• Build trusted relationships with broker partners and internal stakeholders.
• Give timely feedback, coaching and development opportunities.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
• Support organisational change initiatives while keeping team engagement, wellbeing and performance high.

Required profile

• 3+ years' experience in a Team Leader or supervisory role in insurance or a related industry.
• Proven success leading sizeable teams in complex operational environments.
• Confidence managing performance, giving coaching and feedback, and handling complex people matters professionally.
• Strong stakeholder and relationship-building skills.
• Commercial acumen, sound judgement and a customer-focused approach.
