Teacher of Health & Physical Education

About the role

Ivanhoe Grammar School, a co-educational independent school, is seeking a Teacher of Health & Physical Education for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month fixed-term position at the University Campus, commencing in January 2027. The teacher plays an active role in the intellectual, social, emotional and personal development of students, supporting the school's commitment to holistic education and a culture of character.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Health & PE to Year 9 students.
• Report to the Curriculum Leader and work closely with the Head of Pedagogy.
• Work with colleagues across year levels and subjects to ensure consistent, high-impact teaching, strong student wellbeing and meaningful student care.
• Deliver research-informed learning using the school's instructional model (Warm Up, New Learning, Dive In, Reflect).
• Embed universal practices such as clear learning intentions, formative assessment and student goal setting.
• Create calm, inclusive classrooms and monitor student learning and wellbeing using data, feedback and professional judgement.
• Contribute to House life, co-curricular programs and wider campus initiatives.
• Engage in reflective practice, coaching and collaborative planning.

Required profile

• Experience teaching Health & Physical Education to Year 9 students.
• Relevant qualification, ideally with postgraduate qualifications in Education, Curriculum or Pedagogy.
• Valid VIT registration and a demonstrated commitment to child safety and inclusive practice.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, parents and community partners.
• Solutions-focused mindset, commitment to character education and respect for the potential of every learner.
