Tax Accountant

About the role

VGW is seeking a Tax Accountant to support its Tax team in Sydney, handling corporate, international, transfer pricing, remuneration and indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare company tax returns and tax effect accounting calculations for Australia and overseas jurisdictions.
• Calculate half‑yearly and yearly income tax provisions for consolidated financial reporting.
• Assist with monthly tax journals and various tax filings including BAS, IAS, withholding tax and other indirect taxes.
• Manage remuneration, employment tax and FBT matters, including FBT return preparation.
• Liaise with internal and external advisors on corporate, international, indirect tax, transfer pricing and remuneration tax compliance.
• Support revenue authority queries and international tax matters such as transfer pricing, Country‑by‑Country reporting and BEPS Pillar 2 calculations.
• Contribute to ad‑hoc advisory projects, tax research and internal memos.

Required profile

• 3–5+ years experience in accounting or professional services with tax compliance exposure.
• Completed or near‑completed CA, CPA or equivalent qualification.
• Strong understanding of Australian income tax, FBT and GST legislation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

• Advanced Excel skills.
• Proficiency with the MS Office Suite.
• Tax effect accounting knowledge.
