Systems Specialist - Requirements Development Lead (AFHQ)

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a Systems Specialist Requirements development lead for the Defence project AIR 6002, which delivers a Future Lead-In Fighter System (FLIFS) including aircraft, simulators, facilities, ground support equipment, training material and contracted services. The role is a key element in delivering this capability for Defence and works under limited supervision of the VCDF Task Lead, covering all project aspects except facilities. It sits within the Air Warfare System Project Office (AWSPO) in conjunction with Air Force Headquarters (AFHQ). The position is based onsite, preferably at RAAF Base Williamtown, with Canberra (Russell Offices) possible on a case-by-case basis.

Key responsibilities

• Develop high-quality, traceable Function and Performance Specifications (FPS) and artefacts for the FLIFS aircraft platform, simulators, training solutions and live, virtual and constructive (LVC) training systems
• Represent VCDF at forums with stakeholders such as operators and delivery agents
• Draft ASDEFCON Data Item Descriptions (DID)
• Share insights and expertise with project team members and liaise with SMEs and stakeholders
• Participate in commercial activities and evaluate and report tenders
• Conduct vendor requirements reviews
• Populate systems engineering databases and present verbal and written reports to committees and boards
• Collaborate to build relationships, identify and minimise capability risks and resolve complex issues

Required profile

• Active NV1 security clearance (essential)
• Graduate with an appropriate engineering degree (important)
• Experience in capability development, defence acquisition and aircraft acquisition (important)
• Ability to travel (desirable); onsite work with preferred location at RAAF Base Williamtown
