Systems Administrator

About the role

Kapsch is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join its Melbourne team on a full‑time permanent basis. You will support critical infrastructure for intelligent transportation solutions across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Level 2 escalation point for infrastructure troubleshooting, diagnostics and remediation.
• Manage and maintain servers, virtual machines, hypervisors, storage systems, networks and supporting software.
• Ensure systems comply with cybersecurity requirements, patching schedules and certificate management.
• Define and update system manuals, configuration baselines and operational procedures.
• Participate in a rotating 24/7 on‑call roster and provide occasional after‑hours support.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems administration or technical operations.
• Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science or related field (preferred).
• Strong problem‑solving ability and capacity to work independently in a live operational environment.
• Willingness to work on a 24/7 rotational roster and handle after‑hours incidents.

Required skills

• Windows Server administration.
• Virtualisation platforms such as VMware.
• LAN/WAN networking, firewalls, VLANs, routing and security concepts.
• Backup, recovery and monitoring systems.
• Security hardening, vulnerability management, patching and certificate handling.
• ITIL Foundation or relevant vendor certifications (preferred).
