Systems Administrator – Digital Surveillance & Specialist Capability

About the role

The Australian Federal Police are seeking qualified Systems Administrators (Band 6) to support the Digital Surveillance Collection (DSC) and Specialist Capability Systems (SCS) teams. You will ensure the reliability and security of covert surveillance infrastructure that underpins AFP operational capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 systems support for covert surveillance capabilities, including participation in an on‑call rotation.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across Linux and Windows environments.
• Configure and maintain servers, networks, and core infrastructure services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• Research, develop, and implement new systems and processes to enhance operational capability.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of developers, analysts, and engineers to deliver secure, user‑centred solutions.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance.
• Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, administering, and supporting Linux and Windows operating systems and enterprise infrastructure.
• Experience with virtualised environments and cloud platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V, Azure, AWS).
• Strong investigative and troubleshooting skills for enterprise‑level issues.
