System Administrator

About the role

We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to manage and enhance a secure, enterprise‑grade ICT environment for a leading Australian defence technology organisation. You will work across cloud services, cyber security, networking, virtualization and end‑user support, ensuring critical business systems remain reliable, compliant and protected.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Microsoft 365 services (Teams, Entra ID/Azure AD, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online) and manage user accounts, permissions and security policies.
• Maintain Linux (Ubuntu) servers, perform system patching, upgrades, monitoring and documentation.
• Support virtualization platforms and related infrastructure, including internal services, authentication systems and VPN technologies.
• Maintain network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls) and assist with ICT security operations, privileged account controls and compliance audits.
• Configure, deploy and support laptops, desktops and peripherals, handling the full hardware lifecycle.
• Identify and implement improvements in performance, security, automation and operational efficiency.

• Network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, VPN).
• Backup and recovery solutions.
• ICT security principles, access management and privileged account controls.
• End‑user technical support.
• CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins) and scripting/automation experience.
