System Administrator – Hybrid Hosting & Staff Support

About the role

We are looking for a self‑motivated System Administrator to own and optimise our hybrid hosting infrastructure while providing day‑to‑day technical support to internal staff. The role sits within a fast‑paced digital agency in Melbourne’s inner suburbs, reporting to the Lead Developer.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and optimise Windows‑based hosting environments and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
• Maintain physical server hardware, including on‑site visits to local data centres for bare‑metal deployments and troubleshooting.
• Run and monitor virtualised servers and storage using Proxmox and TrueNAS.
• Own DNS updates, domain routing and general hosting configurations for client sites.
• Provide IT asset support for staff, setting up and fixing Windows and Mac laptops/PCs.
• Apply security patches, monitor vulnerabilities and test backups on a monthly basis.
• Track workload independently and communicate effectively to resolve issues and scope new projects.

Required profile

• 5+ years of system administration experience, preferably in an agency or multi‑client managed‑services environment.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset with excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to local data centres for hands‑on hardware work.
