Substation Electrician – High Voltage

About the role

Transgrid is seeking a Substation Electrician to support the reliability and safety of its high‑voltage transmission network across NSW. You will work on installing, maintaining, fault‑finding and commissioning substation assets while responding to system incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Perform high‑voltage switching and on‑call emergency response.
• Maintain and commission substation equipment and secondary systems.
• Diagnose faults, carry out repairs and support construction activities.
• Prepare safety documentation and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Lead crews when required and accurately record work in operational systems.
• Mentor apprentices and junior technicians.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent electrical trade qualification.
• Familiarity with Australian Wiring Rules and relevant standards.
• Willingness to work on‑call and after‑hours for system incidents.
• Current Australian driver’s licence.
• Desirable: NSW Fair Trading Electrical Supervisor Certificate or Contractor Licence.
