Subcontracts Specialist - Defence Procurement

About the role

Northrop Grumman Australia is launching several Subcontracts Specialist positions in mid-July 2026 and is asking for expressions of interest from experienced procurement and commercial professionals. The role supports the Future Business and Captures portfolio, working with program teams, suppliers and business leaders on strategic sourcing plans. It is based in Fortitude Valley, Queensland or Symonston, Canberra, with flexible hybrid working, and involves travel of about 10% of the time.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex source-to-contract activities, including sourcing strategies, RFx processes, evaluation and contract negotiations
• Build strong supplier relationships and drive supplier performance outcomes
• Support Australian Industry Capability (AIC) outcomes
• Ensure compliance with Defence and company requirements
• Contribute to continuous improvement across supply chain functions

Required profile

• Australian citizenship is required; an AGSVA security clearance (or the ability to obtain and maintain one) is needed, and ITAR applies
• Experience in subcontracting, procurement, commercial or contract roles within Defence or a similarly complex environment
• Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Tertiary qualification in Business, Law, Commerce or a related discipline (desirable)

Required skills

• Drafting, negotiating and managing subcontracts or contracts
• Commercial acumen and stakeholder engagement
• Knowledge of Defence contracting frameworks including ASDEFCON (desirable)
