Student Software Engineer

About the role

Join ResMed's Devices Software team as a Student Software Engineer, contributing to the design, development, and verification of embedded software for medical devices. You will work alongside experienced engineers in an Agile environment, gaining hands‑on experience in a highly regulated, purpose‑driven industry.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software applications.
• Implement automated and manual verification activities to ensure functional and performance requirements are met.
• Participate in software architecture, design reviews, and technical discussions.
• Document software designs, implementation decisions, and test outcomes.
• Troubleshoot, analyse, and resolve software defects and customer‑reported issues.

Required profile

• Currently undertaking a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field, in final or penultimate year.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset.
• Curiosity for learning new technologies and complex systems.

Required skills

• Experience with C++ and/or Python for application and test software development.
• Familiarity with Agile development environments.
• Knowledge of source‑control tools such as GitHub or Bitbucket, and collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence.
• Understanding of embedded C/C++ and object‑oriented programming.
• Exposure to Test‑Driven Development, automated testing, CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and responsible use of AI tools.
