Structural Engineer - Brisbane

About the role

GR Engineering Services Limited (GRES), a process engineering consulting and contracting company serving the mining and mineral processing industries, is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join its Brisbane projects team. The role provides technical support to project teams on significant projects, within a multi-disciplined team, and offers strong potential for professional development and career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Work in a multi-disciplined project team to deliver cost-effective structural engineering designs from concept through detailed design, tender and construction.
• Perform static and dynamic analysis and design of steel, platework and concrete structures.
• Assist designers in developing project models and drawings, and complete detailed engineering documentation and calculations.
• Review vendor documentation and ensure designs comply with statutory regulations and company standards.
• Make sure designs are fit for purpose, considering cost, constructability, operability and maintainability.
• Support site construction activities remotely.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural Engineering recognised by the Institute of Engineers Australia.
• 3-8 years of technical and practical experience designing, constructing and commissioning mineral processing plants or heavy industrial structures, with a detailed understanding of multi-discipline design delivery.
• Experience in mineral processing and materials handling (conveyors, crushers, screens, mills, tanks, hydrometallurgical plant) is desirable but not essential.
• Full and unrestricted Australian working rights and residence in Brisbane; applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Space Gass and Strand7, or willingness to adapt from similar software.
• Knowledge of current engineering design standards and practice.
• Schedule-driven EPC delivery experience, or willingness to adapt to it.
• High level of communication, planning and organisation skills.
