Strategic Account Manager – Payments

About the role

We are looking for a strategic Account Manager to join our Acquiring team and drive growth across Australia’s leading payment network. In this commercial position you will combine deep merchant‑acquiring expertise with relationship management and market insight to influence the future of payments.

Key responsibilities

• Own and expand strategic relationships with acquiring partners, banks, processors and payment providers across the Australian payments ecosystem.
• Identify and develop commercial opportunities that increase transaction volumes, customer value and long‑term revenue.
• Partner with customers to align eftpos products and capabilities with their acquiring strategies.
• Lead commercial discussions, including proposals, pricing, business cases and contract negotiations.
• Execute the eftpos acquiring product and innovation roadmap with key customers.
• Analyse performance data, transaction trends and market insights to uncover new opportunities.
• Provide regular commercial performance reporting and insights to support portfolio growth.

Required profile

• Proven experience in merchant acquiring, preferably within a major Australian bank or leading payments organisation.
• Strong understanding of how acquiring works and the commercial drivers for acquiring organisations.
• Demonstrated ability to engage senior stakeholders and build trusted relationships.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into commercial recommendations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of merchant acquiring processes and payment ecosystems.
• Experience negotiating contracts and pricing structures.
• Ability to develop business cases and commercial proposals.
