Staff Specialist – Gynaecological Oncology

About the role

The Hunter New England Centre for Gynaecological Cancer is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist in Gynaecological Oncology to join the multidisciplinary team at John Hunter Hospital. You will deliver high‑quality specialist care to a diverse patient population while contributing to teaching, research and service development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inpatient, outpatient and consultative Gynaecological Oncology services, including complex surgical and clinical management of malignancies and pre‑malignant conditions.
• Participate in on‑call duties, clinical governance, quality‑improvement initiatives and service development activities.
• Mentor and supervise medical staff, students and trainees, and support research and innovation within the centre.

Required profile

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists with subspecialty qualification in Gynaecological Oncology, or equivalent overseas training.
• Eligibility for Specialist registration with AHPRA and demonstrated experience delivering high‑quality Gynaecological Oncology services.

Required skills

• Proficiency in complex gynaecological oncology surgery.
• Accreditation as a console surgeon on the Da Vinci Robotic Platform (desirable but not essential).
