Staff Specialist - Drug Health Services

About the role

Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is recruiting a Staff Specialist in Drug Health Services for Concord Repatriation General Hospital. The role provides high-quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Drug Health Services and takes part in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative work within the department and hospital as required. It is a temporary part-time position open until June 2027, with the position available from February 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high-quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Drug Health Services
• Take part in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Drug Health Services Department and Hospital as required
• Ensure a high standard of professional performance and encourage an academic environment supporting education, research and professional development
• Work in the Inpatient Withdrawal Unit and the Drug Health Services Outpatient Clinic at Concord Hospital and Canterbury Hospital

Required profile

• Current registered medical practitioner registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or Psychiatry (FRANZCP) with recognised qualifications in Addiction Medicine and/or other equivalent specialist recognition under the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award
• Approved opioid pharmacotherapies prescriber in NSW, or a commitment to achieve this status within 3 months of appointment
• Applicants expected to receive their Fellowship within two months of 1 February 2027 may also be considered
