Staff Specialist / Consultant General Physician

About the role

Sante Recruitment is seeking a Staff Specialist / Consultant General Physician for a major regional referral hospital in Dubbo, New South Wales. The position is permanent and full-time, combining acute and complex general medicine with teaching, leadership and career development. It suits both Australian-trained physicians and international medical graduates progressing through the RACP Specialist Pathway.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality inpatient and consultative general medicine services
• Manage a broad range of acute and complex medical presentations
• Lead multidisciplinary ward rounds and coordinate patient care
• Supervise, mentor and teach basic physician trainees, registrars, resident medical officers and medical students
• Take part in clinical governance, quality improvement and service development
• Contribute to the consultant on-call roster
• Play an active role in education, research and the development of general medicine services

Required profile

• Specialist registration with AHPRA, or eligibility for registration
• At least 12 months of recent internal or general medicine experience
• OR enrolment in the RACP Physician Training Program
• OR an IMG eligible via the Competent Authority Pathway (UK, Ireland, Canada, USA or New Zealand)
• OR an IMG with a confirmed RACP Specialist Pathway interview date
• OR an IMG assessed by RACP as substantially comparable
