Staff Software Engineer – Social & Store Systems

About the role

As a Staff Software Engineer on an unpublished R&D project, you will define and build the core social and store systems for a new Riot product. You will work closely with leadership, Product, and UX Design to set the long‑term technical vision and ensure the systems meet player expectations and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define the technical vision and long‑term strategy for a 2‑4 person engineering team.
• Architect and implement foundational social and store system components.
• Champion technical direction across the project, collaborating with product, UX, central teams, partners, and vendors.
• Lead cross‑disciplinary discussions to align UI, functionality, and aesthetic requirements.
• Establish best practices for architecture, implementation, and compliance with Riot safety and regulatory standards.
• Mentor engineers at multiple levels as the team scales.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including delivering live or shipped products at scale.
• 3+ years of experience with game‑related systems such as social features, e‑commerce, or platform services.
• Proficiency in C++ and Unreal Engine.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
