Staff Software Engineer - Mobile Workflows

About the role

Canva is rebuilding its mobile experience from a web‑wrapped app to a native‑grade platform. As a Staff Software Engineer in the Mobile Workflows team, you will lead the design and delivery of the tooling, testing infrastructure, and quality strategy that will power this transformation across iOS, Android, and web.

Key responsibilities

• Own the mobile development tooling stack, including simulator/emulator setup, device orchestration, and cross‑platform CLI tools.
• Lead the design and evolution of a mobile test automation framework for synthetic and integration testing.
• Define and implement CI/CD quality‑gating strategies to surface and prevent issues before production.
• Consolidate fragmented mobile workflows by aligning Native Infra, Cross‑Platform, and DevX teams.
• Publish and maintain mobile testing best practices, standards, and company‑wide quality signals.

Required profile

• Proven experience shaping large‑scale mobile infrastructure or tooling initiatives.
• Strong ability to balance short‑term delivery with long‑term architectural goals.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills across multiple engineering teams.
• Track record of driving alignment and establishing coherent processes in complex environments.
