Staff Engineer, Front‑End – Account Experience

About the role

This senior individual‑contributor position leads front‑end architecture for a data‑rich merchant platform that powers global payments. Based in Australia and operating in a remote‑first environment, you will shape how merchants interact with critical account workflows, from onboarding to daily operations, including emerging AI‑driven interfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve front‑end technical strategy across multiple Account Experience teams.
• Own architecture decisions for a complex web platform, covering state management, performance optimization, and system design.
• Build and maintain shared foundations such as component libraries, design systems, and reusable patterns.
• Shape merchant‑facing experiences, including AI‑driven and conversational workflows.
• Lead and mentor engineers through design reviews, code contributions, and technical guidance without direct authority.
• Champion best practices in accessibility, performance, observability, and front‑end reliability.
• Partner closely with Product, Design, and backend teams to align on technical and product trade‑offs.

Required profile

• Proven experience at Staff or Principal Engineer level in front‑end engineering.
• Strong technical judgment and a track record of influencing architecture across multiple teams.
• Deep expertise in building large‑scale, long‑lived applications.
• Ability to mentor and raise engineering standards across a distributed organization.
