Staff AI Deployment Engineer

About the role

Altana is looking for a senior AI Deployment Engineer to lead end‑to‑end implementations of its AI‑powered trade platform for enterprise customers in Australia. You will design, deploy and maintain agentic AI workflows that integrate with customers' data, APIs and systems of record.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy multi‑step AI agents, tool/function calling, and automation pipelines that operate on real customer data.
• Lead full‑cycle implementations: scoping, configuration, integration, validation, go‑live and hand‑off to support.
• Connect agents to customer data sources, APIs and define permissions, guardrails and human‑in‑the‑loop checkpoints.
• Coordinate internal engineering, data‑science and product teams to deliver cohesive solutions.
• Monitor performance, cost and latency of deployed agents and iterate based on evolving customer needs.

Required profile

• 8+ years of customer‑facing technical delivery experience (implementation, professional services, technical program management or product management).
• Proven track record of shipping complex technical projects with external stakeholders on strict deadlines.
• Strong communication skills to run working sessions with analysts, IT and executives.
• Ability to work in ambiguous environments and drive automation over manual effort.

Required skills

• Python (or comparable language) and SQL proficiency.
• Experience with AI‑assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or Copilot.
• Hands‑on experience building or deploying agentic AI systems (LLM agents, tool/function calling, retrieval‑augmented generation).
• Familiarity with agent frameworks (LangChain, MCP) and API integration (REST, Swagger/OpenAPI).
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Git‑based workflows, AWS or Azure cloud services.
• Exposure to data platforms such as Databricks, Elasticsearch, Postgres, Redshift and Spark.
