Speech Pathologist - Rural Allied Health Team

About the role

Goulburn Valley Health is recruiting a Speech Pathologist for its Rural Allied Health Team in the Community Health service, based in Shepparton. You will work autonomously in a supportive, multidisciplinary team with allied health professionals, providing person-centred care mainly in home-based settings with no nursing home work. The role suits an experienced Grade 2 or Grade 3 Speech Pathologist.

Key responsibilities

• Travel across the Goulburn Valley region, working in home and clinic settings
• Work with clients, carers and families to promote independence and safety at home
• Provide specialist intervention for dysphagia and complex communication disorders
• Advise on communication aids and devices
• Develop goals and care plans to help consumers stay at home and active in their local community
• Take part in student training programs, service development and quality improvement initiatives

Required profile

• Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) or equivalent
• Member of Speech Pathology Australia and participating in its professional self-regulation program
• Knowledge and experience of speech pathology services in home and community settings
• Knowledge of the service system and ability to liaise and advocate across health and community care
• Experience managing adult clients with dysphagia
