Specialist Technician – Systems Engineer (IT Support)

About the role

Bytewize is seeking experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role involves managing ICT infrastructure, supporting staff and students, and delivering professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks and server environments.
• Provide ICT support services in large, technology‑driven learning environments.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT professional development when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of industry experience in senior‑level corporate IT support, education sector, or previous TSSP involvement.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia, a current driver’s licence, and willingness to undergo police and background checks.

Required skills

• Hyper‑V virtualisation administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Cloud service administration (Google Workspace & Microsoft 365).
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking (Cisco & HP switching) and Cisco wireless technologies.
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment with advanced troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops, notebooks, 1:1 and BYOD device planning.
• Strong technical documentation skills.

What we offer

• Salary range $80,000 – $110,000 AUD (pro‑rata) with top rates guaranteed.
