Specialist Technician – Systems Engineer for School IT Support

About the role

Bytewize is looking for experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). You will join a long‑standing panel member of the Department of Education, managing complex ICT environments and delivering professional development to school staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer Windows and Linux server environments and virtualisation platforms.
• Support school networks, Cisco/HP switching, and wireless technologies.
• Deploy and manage cloud services (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365) and Mobile Device Management solutions.
• Plan, deploy and support 1:1 and BYOD device programmes.
• Provide on‑site troubleshooting, documentation and escalation as required.
• Collaborate with school leadership to deliver ICT professional development sessions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT support experience.
• Previous experience in the TSSP, education sector, or equivalent corporate IT support.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and organisational skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia, a current driver’s licence and willingness to undergo police/background checks.

What we offer

• Salary range $90,000 – $110,000 (pro‑rata) AUD, top rates based on experience.
