Specialist Technician – Systems Engineer for School ICT Support

About the role

Bytewize is looking for experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide high‑level ICT support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role involves managing complex school networks, servers and cloud services while delivering professional development to staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer Windows and Linux server environments and virtualisation platforms.
• Provide support for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Mobile Device Management solutions.
• Configure and troubleshoot Cisco and HP switching, as well as Cisco wireless controllers and access points.
• Deploy and maintain standard operating environments (SOE) and image builds.
• Plan, deploy and manage 1:1 and BYOD device programmes.
• Produce clear technical documentation and assist with ICT training for school staff.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT support experience.
• Previous work within the TSSP, education sector, or comparable corporate ICT environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and organisational skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia, a current driver’s licence and willingness to undergo background checks.

What we offer

• Salary $90,000 – $110,000 AUD (pro‑rated), top rates based on experience
