Specialist Technician – Systems Engineer (Education ICT)

About the role

Bytewize is looking for experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). You will manage and maintain ICT infrastructure, support staff and students, and help deliver professional development in a technology‑driven learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer and support school networks, servers and cloud services.
• Provide on‑site ICT support for large, technology‑rich learning environments.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT professional development sessions.
• Plan, deploy and manage 1:1 and BYOD device programmes.
• Document configurations, incidents and resolutions in line with best practice.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT support experience (TSSP, education sector or equivalent corporate environment).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong problem‑solving, escalation and communication skills.
• Punctual, reliable and well‑organised.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR or permanent visa) and a current driver’s licence.
• Willingness to undergo police and background checks.

• Hyper‑V virtualisation administration.
• Windows and Linux server administration.
• Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 cloud service administration.
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking – Cisco and HP switching.
• Cisco wireless technologies (controllers, APs).
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and image deployment with advanced troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops, notebooks and mobile devices.
• Technical documentation and reporting.

What we offer

• Salary range $90,000 – $110,000 (pro‑rata) with top rates based on experience.
