Specialist Technician – ICT Support for Schools

About the role

Bytewize is looking for experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide ICT support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role involves managing school networks, servers and devices, and delivering professional development to staff in a technology‑driven learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer Windows and Linux server environments and virtualisation platforms.
• Provide support for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Mobile Device Management solutions.
• Configure and maintain Cisco and HP networking equipment, including wireless controllers and access points.
• Deploy and troubleshoot standard operating environments, images and large fleets of desktops, notebooks and BYOD devices.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT training sessions as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT support experience in education, TSSP or comparable corporate environments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR or permanent visa), a current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• Willingness to undergo police and background checks.

What we offer

• Salary $90,000–$110,000 AUD pro‑rata, top rates based on experience.
