Specialist Technician – ICT Support for Schools

About the role

Bytewize is looking for experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to deliver technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role involves managing ICT infrastructure, supporting staff and students, and ensuring reliable operation of school networks and servers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer Windows and Linux server environments and school networks.
• Provide support in large, technology‑driven learning environments.
• Collaborate with school leadership and deliver ICT professional development when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT support experience.
• Previous experience in the TSSP program, education sector, or equivalent corporate IT support.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and organisational skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia, a current driver’s licence and willingness to undergo police and background checks.

• Hyper‑V virtualization administration.
• Windows Server and Linux Server administration.
• Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 cloud service administration.
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment and administration.
• Advanced enterprise networking – Cisco and HP switching.
• Cisco wireless controllers and access points.
• Standard Operating Environment (SOE) image deployment and troubleshooting.
• Support for large fleets of desktops, notebooks, 1:1 and BYOD devices.
• Technical documentation.

What we offer

• Salary range $90,000 – $110,000 (pro‑rata) AUD per year.
